While I prefer the tiny-but-powerful gas canister Snow Peak LiteMax Stove for ease of use and simplicity, we’ve gotta give props to Mikhail Merkurieff for his FireAnt ultralight multi-fuel camp stove, which is a crowd-funded KickStarter project. The FireAnt is made from stamped titanium panels that pack flat but assemble together to form a rigid structure. You can use sticks and twigs as fuel or you can use it with an alcohol or solid-fuel burner.
Better still, it only weighs 2.85 ounces. If you’re interested in can’t-go-wrong old-school innovation, there’s just 8 days left to get in on the KickStarter funding. For $60 you can get the FireAnt, delivered as soon as July. (Later this year it should retail for about $75, available from EmberLit.)
