The BlendJet 2 is a portable, rechargeable blender. It’s powerful enough to crush ice yet light enough to drink from.
To get us a closer look, BlendJet sent Man Makes Fire a review unit. After testing the BlendJet 2, this is what we learned:
BlendJet 2 Blender Review
At first glance, you might be wondering if the petite BlendJet 2 is big enough and strong enough to blend ice. More specifically, you might be wondering if it’s powerful enough to make a blended margarita on the beach on a hot summer day.
I can attest that yes, the BlendJet 2 is powerful enough to crush ice. Of course, it doesn’t compete with full-size kitchen counter blenders. Still, I found myself surprised and pleased with the power, quality and functionality of the BlendJet 2.
The BlendJet 2 is easy to use, easy to clean, and it whips up protein smoothies fast. The rechargeable battery is big enough to blend several smoothies before you need a recharge. Because the BlendJet2 uses a simple USB-C port, you can recharge your BlendJet in the vehicle or even with a portable battery bank like the MyCharge Adventure H20 Turbo Waterproof Charger.
My Experience Using the BlendJet 2
The BlendJet 2 is basically a single-serving smoothie maker. The polycarbonate clear jar holds 16 ounces. One of the benefits of the BlendJet 2 is that it’s designed to be small and light enough to take anywhere. In addition, if you’re on the go, traveling, or decide you need a post-hike protein shake at the trailhead, you can drink directly from the BlendJet 2 with the base attached.
Before you drink from the BlendJet, you’ll want to lock out the control button so you don’t accidentally press it and send your drink splashing.
Controlling the BlendJet 2 is super easy. You have one button and three modes:
- Blend Mode — a single button press starts a 20-second blend cycle
- Pulse Mode — double-press the button to let you press and hold to pulse
- Lock Mode — hold the button for 3 seconds to lock/unlock the blender
Pulse Mode is handy if you want to chunk up any contents, which is particularly useful if you want to use the BlendJet 2 like a food processor. You could, for instance, blend up some homemade salsa if you were so inclined. As for myself, I like peanut butter protein shakes. One way I like to make them is with a 1/4 cup of oatmeal, which I throw in the BlendJet 2 first. The blades chop up the dry oatmeal quickly and easily. I then toss in the yogurt, peanut butter, protein mix, a splash of milk and some ice cubes.
So good.
If you want a coffee kick, dump in your favorite powdered instant coffee.
Of course, the BlendJet 2 also works great with frozen fruit and berries.
How to Use the BlendJet
The BlendJet 2 is super easy to use. Charging uses a USB-C cord. It takes about 1.5 hours to charge from a household wall socket with typical USB plug-in chargers.
A blue light around the button indicates a full charge. A full charge will get you about fifteen blend cycles. In my experience, this is pretty accurate, even when blending ice.
Once your battery starts to fade, the circular light around the button will turn purple.
If you see a red light, you’re out of battery and must recharge.
Troubleshooting the BlendJet 2
Sometimes the BlendJet 2 stops working and throws a red light. Don’t worry, all this means is that the blades stopped, likely due to a jam with ice or extra thick contents. If your BlendJet blades stop, the fix is easy: Turn the BlendJet upside down then hit the button. Return the BlendJet right side up and continue blending away.
For me, the upside down trick has worked every time.
To avoid it from happening altogether, I usually start with less ice . . . then add more ice once the main ingredients have been chopped up into smaller pieces.
Easy Clean Up!
Clean up is relatively easy. You can rinse it out with water and run a blend cycle — with a drop of dish soap — and a soapy tornado will clean it surprisingly well.
You can use a bottle brush if needed or remove the jar from the base for deep cleaning.
The Bottom Line
All-in-all, the BlendJet 2 is a surprisingly powerful and versatile portable, rechargeable blender. It’s handy in the kitchen for everyday use, but it’s even better if you want to blend on the go. Because it’s so versatile, we think it might be just the thing to add to your shortlist of gifts for outdoor lovers in your life. Very highly recommended.
