Grundéns has released two new stockingfoot wader options for 2024, the Vector Stockingfoot Wader and the Bedrock Stockingfoot Wader. The new fishing waders join Grundéns excellent Boundary Stocking Foot Wader lineup as part of the company’s new Fly Collection released last year.

We tested and reviewed the Grundéns Boundary Stockingfoot Waders last summer and found them to be extraordinarily comfortable. Plus, the overall build quality and in-river performance was truly excellent.

Let’s take a look at the new waders:

Grundéns Vector Stockingfoot Waders

The new Vector Stockingfoot Wader doesn’t use GORE-TEX like the Boundary Stockingfoot Waders — but it does include built-in knee pads!

The new Vector Stockingfoot Wader uses Grundéns’ proprietary wading mobility patterning for agility and comfort. Basically, this means the panels and seams are cut to make it easy to walk and scramble over rough terrain without binding. Grundéns is using a new ultra-dense poly-nylon outer fabric for durability with a four-layer laminate for waterproofing. Unlike the ultra-premium Boundary Stockingfoot Waders, the new Vector waders do not use GORE-TEX Pro fabric tech in its fabric.

However, Grundéns includes knee pads built into its new Vectors — which are not included in the Boundary waders.

The neoprene booties include dual-density TiAlpha, which is basically embedded titanium that Grundéns says repels cold and increases heat retention back to your feet.

Vertical Zip Chest Pockets?

One of the most interesting new design elements in the Vector is the inclusion of a vertical-zip chest pocket. Most chest pockets zip from the top . . . or are split by a waterproof zipper in premium zippered versions like the Grundéns Boundary Zip Stockingfoot Wader.

It’s a curious design, but it will let you sort your accessory fishing gear in a new way.

Grundéns makes the Vector in 16 size options — three more sizes than the Boundary wader series (13 sizes) and the Bedrock series (also 13 size options).

Grundéns Bedrock Stockingfoot Waders

The Boundary Stockingfoot Waders promise a great blend of durability and usability at an affordable price point.

The new Bedrock Stockingfoot Wader also uses the proprietary Grundéns wading mobility pattern, TiAlpha in the booties, and a vertical entry chest pocket.

You don’t get built-in knee pads, the suspension system is basic, and the waist belt is a 1/2″ narrower . . . but the price point is quite a bit lower, too, making the slight loss of luxury a fair tradeoff.

The biggest difference from the Vector is the use of a 100% ultra-dense nylon outer fabric in the 4-layer wader. Grundéns reports a 30K+ submerged waterproof rating, so the Bedrock might technically be a bit more waterproof under pressure compared to the Vector — and possibly a bit more rugged. However, don’t read too much into that little “+” symbol. If the Bedrock is slightly more waterproof under pressure, it’s also likely slightly less breathable, which is in line with competitive rugged midrange waders.

While Grundéns is not currently offering a women’s version of the Vector, Grundéns does make a women’s version of the Bedrock and the Boundary Stockingfoot Waders.

Why You Can Trust Us to Make Unbiased Reviews and Recommendations

Man Makes Fire has been reviewing outdoor gear since 2011. We buy gear to evaluate and gear manufacturers occasionally ship review units to us to test because they trust the quality of our in-depth reviews.
