Simms manufactures some of the best fishing waders and gear — and the company rarely has monster sales. However, for the first time ever, Simms is having a sale on its ultra-rugged G4Z Stockingfoot Waders. Made in America, the G4Z is widely considered one of the best fishing waders ever made.

In fact, the G4Z would be our top pick in our guide to the best waders if not for the cost. Instead, we tend to recommend the also excellent G3 Guide Waders . . . but with the G4Z $200 off in Simms’ new sale?

Wow. Once you start wearing a zip-front wader, it’s hard to go back to regular stockingfoot waders. For most fly fishers, the Simms G4Z will last for years.

The Best Materials

The Simms G4Z Waders are Made in America and are, arguably, the most well-made waterproof, breathable waders on the planet.

Simms builds its G4Z using a 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell upper with a 4-layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell lower.

The zipper is a burly waterproof YKK zipper with plenty of length for easy on/off and, of course, calls of nature.

As expected from a premium wader, you also get zippered chest pockets for gear storage, plus micro-fleece hand warmer pockets.

The front and back leg seams are patented and provide superior resistance to wear and tear.

The air-mesh suspender system uses opposing Duraflex buckles for waist-high conversion. It also now includes a fabric suspender divider that keeps your suspenders from getting twisted — which, if you’re a fly fisher, you know that twisted suspenders behind you happens all too often. When you’re standing on the side of a stream, rushing to get your waders on while looking at feeding trout, even the most deliberate fly fishers sometimes struggle with standard suspenders.

Why You Can Trust Us to Make Unbiased Reviews and Recommendations

Man Makes Fire has been reviewing outdoor gear since 2011. We buy gear to evaluate and gear manufacturers occasionally ship review units to us to test because they trust the quality of our in-depth reviews. We carefully evaluate the gear in-person and review it only if it is very good, noting if it was provided to us. After the review, we return it, give it away, or use it for longer-term updates. We do not accept any gear in exchange for coverage. We only recommend gear we believe in, focusing on reputable companies, brands, and retailers we trust so that you have a good experience, too. When you buy using the retail links in our guides and reviews, we may earn a small affiliate commission that helps pay for our work. We take pride in delivering the unbiased advice and gear recommendations you need so you can choose the right gear for your own outdoor adventures.
