The Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie is, quite simply, a stocking cap that’s fully waterproof. If that has your attention, this review is definitely for you.

To get us a closer look, Showers Pass sent Man Makes Fire a review unit. This is what we learned:

Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie Review

Showers Pass is a relatively small company based in Portland, Oregon that produces high-quality waterproof gear. The company leans toward biking enthusiasts but also creates gear for any outdoor adventurer, especially those who aren’t afraid to get outside when it’s wet.

This photo shows the inside of the Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie.
Inside out — it looks and feels just like a standard beanie, comfortable — but waterproof!

The Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie takes the standard greatness of the beanie and makes it downright awesome. The Crosspoint uses a 3-layer construction that places a seamless waterproof, breathable membrane in the middle of two soft and warm acrylic knit layers. The inside and outside feel like any other knit beanie.

At first glance, it also looks like any other beanie, but when you hold it, you can tell there is something different in the middle — obviously, the waterproof membrane. It’s subtle, though, and if you didn’t know it was inside, most people would never notice.

Fit

The Crosspoint is ready for snow and rain.

The one-size-fits-all beanie fits like most beanies, but we think it fits just a bit large. It does fit smaller noggins, but with less stretch. Showers Pass sizes it for heads with circumferences between 52 cm – 64 cm.

It’s very comfortable and plenty warm.

Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie: An Awesome Gift

The real question is who is the Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie really for? The answer is any outdoor adventurer who is willing to go outside in cold and rainy weather. Sure, outdoor fanatics often have rain jackets with hoods, but I can tell you that I’m frequently outside when the weather turns and I don’t always have rain gear with me. And sometimes I don’t want to wear a hood. A waterproof beanie means you don’t have to protect the beanie to ensure it keeps working. That’s cool.

Plus, Crosspoint is the kind of gear you can toss in a pack and have just in case there’s an emergency. I like that, too.

If you’re trying to find a unique gift for a fly fishing fanatic, gifts for any fisher, gifts for backpackers, gifts for hunters, or gifts for campers, keep the Showers Pass Crosspoint Waterproof Beanie in mind. Highly recommended.

Why You Can Trust Us to Make Unbiased Reviews and Recommendations

Man Makes Fire has been reviewing outdoor gear since 2011. We buy gear to evaluate and gear manufacturers occasionally ship review units to us to test because they trust the quality of our in-depth reviews. We carefully evaluate the gear in-person and review it only if it is very good, noting if it was provided to us. After the review, we return it, give it away, or use it for longer-term updates. We do not accept any gear in exchange for coverage. We only recommend gear we believe in, focusing on reputable companies, brands, and retailers we trust so that you have a good experience, too. When you buy using the retail links in our guides and reviews, we may earn a small affiliate commission that helps pay for our work. We take pride in delivering the unbiased advice and gear recommendations you need so you can choose the right gear for your own outdoor adventures.
